RACING:PAUL CARBERRY can warm up for the Punchestown festival in style at Down Royal this afternoon where the former champion jockey could score in half of the six-race card, writes BRIAN O'CONNOR.
Carberry teams up with Dev in the two-and-a-half-mile handicap chase, and this trip should suit Gordon Elliott’s veteran runner who was third to Idarah at Fairyhouse just six days ago.
Before that Dev was prominent over the big fences at Aintree in the Topham until crashing out, and this race looks a good fit for him.
Elliott also supplies Cottage Oak for Carberry in the Beginners Chase, and this one’s hurdles form from last year gives him a clear chance, while Like The Da can strike in the handicap hurdle.
Michael Halford supplies a suitable looking bumper candidate at Down Royal in Cebuano, while Celtic Cub looks one for the bumper at Limerick judged on a tall reputation before his Leopardstown Christmas debut behind Star Neuville.
Deputy Consort could be an each way option for the handicap chase at Limerick.
