Owen Butler, the Old Belvedere fast bowler, has withdrawn from the Ireland panel for the International Cricket Conference Tournament Trophy in Kuala Lumpur next March and April. The ICC tournament is the qualifying competition for the World Cup.

Butler has dropped out because of examination commitments in early summer. His place in the squad has gone to Greg Molins, the Carlisle all-rounder, who has been promoted from the 10-man reserve panel.

Molins's place in the back-up group will be filled next week.
