EQUESTRIAN SPORT - News: Marie Burke, who more than justified her promotion from the subs bench at the world equestrian games in Aachen, Germany, when finishing best of the Irish and making the cut for the individual semi-final, has been given her first chance of a Samsung Super League appearance - and at the most important fixture of all - the league final in Barcelona in less than a fortnight's time.

Team manager Robert Splaine has named the 42-year-old Co Clare rider as one of the quintet for Barcelona, along with two of her Aachen team-mates, Shane Breen and Cameron Hanley.

Splaine has also nominated Cian O'Connor and Army rider Captain Shane Carey.

Splaine will announce his quartet for the Barcelona showdown on September 16th, the eve of the final in which Ireland will be battling to avoid relegation.
