OIL on the cloth, and James Wattana, both failed to stop Nigel Bond easing through to the quarter finals of the £500,000 Benson and Hedges Masters at Wembley.
World number five Bond cruised to a 6-1 victory over Wattana, an opponent for whom he always tends to reserve his best.
Wattana, outscored 543-192 overall, won frame three with runs of 31 and 46 to trail only 2-1, but then found it impossible to place Bond under any kind of pressure.
Bond visibly grew in confidence as the contest progressed and fired in breaks of 68, 80, 63 and 59 to ease through.
