Bilic signs for Everton

SLAVEN BILIC completed his £4

SLAVEN BILIC completed his £4.5 million, move to Everton yesterday and immediately called on the Merseysiders to find the manager that will restore glory to Goodison.

The 28 year old Croatian became the most expensive defender in football when he switched from West Ham by signing a five-year contract.

"I wasn't happy when Joe Royle left the club because he was the man who set up the move for me, said Bilic, who agreed to move to Everton back in March on the proviso that the deal would be completed only when West Ham's battle against relegation was over.

"It was sad that Joe went but it didn't alter the way I felt about Everton and I still wanted to join them.

"The chairman (Peter Johnson) has assured me that he has a short-list of managers he wants to bring here and that he has spoken with them all and every single one of them wanted me.

Bilic has, no doubts that he made the right choice opting for Everton with a posse of clubs ready to meet West Ham's asking price for a player who cost them £1.3 million when he moved to Upton Park from German dub Karlsruhe in February last year.

"Everton are a big club waiting to take off and I am sure that the engines have started already," he said.
