Benny The Dip, winner of this year's Epsom Derby, has run his last race, the colt's trainer John Gosden confirmed yesterday. "Benny The Dip has been retired to Claiborne Farm, Kentucky, and will travel there at the end of October. He will stand for 25,000, he said. "He was a very good two-year-old and a genuine racehorse who has retired sound. Only once has he finished out of the first three in his career and amongst his wins as a two-year-old was the Royal Lodge Stakes at Ascot.
"As a three-year-old he won the Derby, the Dante and was placed in the Eclipse and Juddmonte International."
The Silver Hawk colt gave Gosden and jockey Willie Ryan their first Derbys when beating Silver Patriarch by a short head.
