FAIS Senior Schoolgirls semi-final - Eureka SS, Kells 1 St Angela's, Waterford 0:ÁINE BENNETT was the match-winner for Eureka Secondary School yesterday in Arklow as her goal set up an FAI Schools Senior Girls All-Ireland final for the school from Kells, Co Meath, against Loreto, Letterkenny, on March 22nd.
The midfielder’s all-important strike came midway through the first half when she unleashed a shot from 25 yards which spun wickedly in the wind on its way to beating goalkeeper Gráinne Flood.
The strong breeze favoured St Angela’s Ursuline Convent, Waterford, in the second half yet they failed to convert their dominance into goalscoring opportunities until the closing minutes.
Ciara O’Brien blazed her shot over from an acute angle five minutes before the finish but the best chance arrived during stoppage time when the same player saw her close-range effort cleared off the goal-line.
