THERE was an unexpected echo of Millstreet in LA this week when Michael Flately brought the audience at the Oscars to their feet for not one but two standing ovations. Flately was approached to produce a scene from Lord of the Dance by Oscar producer/director, Gil Chtes. The American tour of his show has since sold out, with the never retiring Michael refusing a month at New York's Radio City, and insisting instead on a week at the massive Madison Square Garden.
Despite receiving mixed reviews on its first outing in London, The Lord of the Dance is to play Wembley Stadium for a month; the longest run ever offered there to any performer.
Back in LA this week, Flately ended his three day run by inviting Madonna and Celine Dion, among others, to a party - both were reportedly "blown away" by Flately's Oscar night performance.
