15 Martin Rodriguez
Age: 25. Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 92kg (14st 6lb). Caps: 8
The Stade Français utility back can play fullback, centre or as he has done on occasion for his club, wing. He is also a front-line place-kicker but will defer to Felipe Contepomi today.
14 Horacio Agulla
Age: 26. Height: 6ft.
Weight: 87kg (13st 11lbs) Caps: 27
He didn’t feature in the Pumas’ other two matches. Has scored three international tries, one of which was against Ireland in the 2007 World Cup match at Parc des Princes.
13 Gonzalo Tiesi
Age: 25. Height: 6ft.
Weight: 92kg (14st 6lbs) Caps: 28
A strong running centre and a good defender, he played with London Irish before joining Harlequins. He scored the last of his eight tries against Scotland during the summer: played all five matches for Pumas this year.
12 Marcelo Bosch
Age: 26. Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 90kg (14st 2lbs) Caps: 3
He is another versatile back who can operate at fullback or centre where he plays today but his preference would probably be the outhalf role. He joined Biarritz Olympique in 2003 and has been there since.
11 Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino
Age: 25. Height: 6ft 1in.
Weight: 85kg (13st 5lbs) Caps: 7
A former Sevens player he elected to join the Leicester Tigers after making his full international senior debut against England in the summer of 2009: quick and very reliable under the high ball.
10 Felipe Contepomi (capt)
Age: 33. Height: 6ft.
Weight: 92kg (14st 6lbs) Caps: 70
The former Leinster outhalf is one of the most naturally gifted ball players in the game. His running and offloading game, physicality in carrying and defending mark him as a key player tomorrow.
9 Nicolas Vergallo
Age: 27. Height: 5ft 7in.
Weight: 77kg (12st 2lbs) Caps: 16
The Toulouse scrumhalf has played against Ireland on three previous occasions, finishing on the winning side twice on Argentine soil in 2007 but was on the Pumas team beaten at Croke Park in 2008. A neat and tidy player.
1 Rodrigo Roncero
Age: 33. Height: 5ft 10.
Weight: 110 kg (17st 4) Caps: 37
Built like a brick outhouse he may lack the height of some other front row behemoths but not the destructive powers. The qualified doctor excels in the scrum and is an aggressive, abrasive presence.
2 Mario Ledesma
Age: 37. Height: 5ft 11in
Weight: 108kg (17st) Caps: 77
He is one of the best hookers of his generation and a player whose influence has not been noticeably compromised by age. He is a team leader and revels in the tight exchanges.
3 Martin Scelzo
Age: 34. Height: 6ft 3in.
Weight: 126kg (19st 11lbs) Caps: 52
The largely immoveable object in the Argentine scrum, he would have won a great deal more caps for his country if his career didn’t coincide with Omar Hasan’s. The Clermont prop won a Heineken Cup medal when Northampton beat Munster in the final.
4 Mariano Galarza
Age: 23. Height: 6ft 8in .
Weight: 107kg (16st 11lbs) Caps: 3
The medical student has had limited opportunities with Leinster so for the province’s supporters it will be a proper opportunity to assess his credentials: a good athlete and lineout presence.
5 Patricio Albacete
Age: 29. Height: 6ft 7in .
Weight: 107kg (16st 11lbs) Caps: 39
The engine in the Argentine pack, the Toulouse lock works tirelessly at the grind but it should not camouflage the fact he is a fine ball player and a fine exponent out of touch.
6 Genaro Fessia
Age: 29. Height: 6ft 2in
Weight: 113kg (17st 11lbs) Caps: 8
He spent a year playing with the Sale Sharks in 2007 but the remainder of his career has seen him play with his local club in his hometown of Cordoba: strong and powerful in attack and defence.
7 Julio Farias Cabello
Age: 32. Height: 6ft 4in.
Weight: 113kg (17st 2lbs) Caps: 1
He is the only other player on the team (alongside Fessia) to play his club rugby in Argentina. His bow in international rugby has come late in his career. He won his first cap when introduced as a replacement against France last week.
8 Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe
Age: 29. Height: 6ft 4in.
Weight: 102kg (16st) Caps: 38
The younger of the Lobbe brothers, who have served Argentina with distinction. He spent the majority of his career at the Sale Sharks before agreeing to a lucrative switch to Toulon in the summer of 2009: another team leader up front.
