Ireland are in the familiar position of having to battle against the wooden spoon in the Girls' Home Internationals over the High Post course in Wiltshire.
And they face a Herculean task as their opponents Wales are going in search of their first international title at any level following their victories over the England and Scotland. Ireland have not been impressive so far losing 6 1/2 - 2 1/2 to last year's champions Scotland on Tuesday and then crashing to a 7-2 defeat at the hands of England yesterday.
They went down in two of the three foursomes and then managed a mere single point from the six singles - Beaverstown's Martina Gillen, the only Irish qualifier in the British Girls' Championship last week, defeating English champion Sarah Heath 2 and 1.
