While it was a good week for Muriel Coveney-Greene at Hazel Grove, eight handicapper Ann Hughes must have wondered what she had to do to win.

Coveney-Greene won two singles competitions in the space of a week and on both occasions she pipped Ann Hughes to the top prize.

Coveney-Greene, a 30 handicapper, won the ILGU Pendant with a nett score of 69, four strokes ahead of Hughes. She followed that up by shooting 39 points to win a singles event, one point ahead of Hughes. She had played golf previously in Enniscrone before joining Hazel Grove, while she is also an active member of Templeogue tennis club.

Her performances during the year have also gained her recognition within the Hazel Grove club, as she is currently on their fourth Autumn squad.
