Sir, - Those friends of Mr Logue from London must have been very unlucky indeed to find their way blocked by a private property sign. Over the past several years, I myself and hill walking colleagues have been up and down Lugnaquilla on numerous occasions via Table Track, Camara Hill, Slievemaan, Cloghernagh, the Frochan Rock Glen and the South Prisons. The only signs we have encountered have been warning of the Army Firing Range, which we find quite a sensible precautionary measure.
Let's not over react because one group of walkers somehow managed to find their way barred by a "farm" notice (where was it exactly?). Apart from some barbed wire and a few trees, Wicklow is still wide open to the hill walker. - Yours, etc.,
Raheen Crescent,
Tallaght,
