Walking in Dublin

Madam, - As a frequent visitor to Dublin, I do not find the city pedestrian-friendly. A walk from Baggot Street Bridge to St Stephen's Green, for example, is fraught with danger. At the bridge there is no safe way to cross the two roads on either side of the canal. At Fitzwilliam Street there is a crossing on one side of the street but another is needed. Merrion Street is somewhat safer but you need luck to reach St Stephen's Green in one piece.

Dublin is a wonderful city and a magnet for tourists. This is a plea to make it safer and easier for those who prefer to walk and admire rather than drive and ignore. - Yours, etc.,
