Sir, - I have ceased cringing a long time ago at the number of sentences in your newspaper which end with a preposition.
However, the large heading on the back page of the E&L Supplement of April 22nd left me gasping. What is this word? It must be monstrous if all the teachers can wait "on" it. Now if they were waiting "for" this word it wouldn't be at all unusual.
