Sir, - I have been following the media coverage of Mr Zhu's visit to Ireland and want to let you know that there is an unhappy feeling among the ordinary Chinese living, working or studying in Ireland about the unfair coverage by the media.
In the first couple of days, the reports concentrated on human rights, Falun Gong and Tibet issues. There are only a couple of Chinese practising Falun Gong in Ireland, but there are hundreds and thousands of Chinese in Ireland against it. At the State dinner in Dublin Castle, the TV reports only showed the demonstration against Mr Zhu's visit. There were also a large number of Mr Zhu's supporters at Dublin Castle that night, however, and none of them was shown on TV, nor they were mentioned.
I would suggest that you arrange a follow-up article in your paper to report the general feeling of the Chinese people in Ireland about the unfair media reports on Mr Zhu's visit. - Yours, etc.,
Dr Da-Wen Sun, UCD, Earlsfort Terrace,Dublin 2.
