Sir, - In your edition of May 15th Eileen Battersby writes about Robinton Mistry's book which has been entered for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. She describes it as a "human comedy". How anybody could title this complex, predominantly tragic, book a comedy is beyond comprehension. That old sloppy ward "flawed" is also trotted out.

However, since Ms Battersby continually refers to the book as Such a Fine Balance when Mistry's publication is titled A Fine Balance perhaps she has been reading a different book. - Yours etc.,
