Sir, - Reading numerous, uncomplimentary letters about RTE's coverage of the winter solstice at Newgrange and Dublin's millennium celebrations prompt me to submit my less spectacular but nevertheless frustrating experience with "the old lady of Montrose".

In a recent letter to RTE I expressed my dissatisfaction with certain anti-social behaviour by the character Dustin on the children's programme Den2. Since my four-year-old daughter is an avid viewer, I often find myself exposed to the antics of Dustin, which include abundant loud renditions of belching and breaking wind.

Unfortunately, my letter condemning these unacceptable actions has never been acknowledged and the noise emanating from Dustin's various orifices continues unabated.

This leaves me to wonder: is it really worth paying an annual £70 television licence fee to be "entertained" by a flatulent turkey? - Yours, etc.,
