Madam, – I note that, on his official visit to Venice in 2007 when he was minister for arts, sport and tourism, Mr John O’Donoghue paid €250 for a water taxi to and from the airport to his hotel in the city (Front page, July 28th). If he had taken the No 5 airport bus, it would have cost him just €2.
I hope that, at the very least, the water taxi driver sang O Sole Miofor the minister as they glided o'er the lagoon towards the city. – Yours, etc,
