Madam, - When I read Orla Tinsley's article in Wednesday's edition about the plight of young (and there are only young!) cystic fibrosis sufferers in this State, I was filled with feelings of shame, guilt and frustration. Shame and guilt because I am a beneficiary of the booming Irish economy to which Ms Tinsley refers and utter frustration at the apparent inability of anyone to do anything about it.
The conditions Ms Tinsley describes in hospital are shocking and the mortality statistics she quotes are an appalling reflection on the care we give CF sufferers. Where do the billions we spend on health go to? - Yours, etc,
PATRICK HEALY, Lansdowne Park, Templeogue, Dublin 16.
