Sir, - Now that the schools have returned from their midterm breaks and Dublin's morning rush-hour traffic has returned to the usual chaos, I would like to suggest a way of improving the situation. If all schools started at 8 a.m. instead of the more usual 9 a.m., most of the "second cars" which appear on the roads during term time would be gone before the majority of other commuters began their journeys. This would also release capacity on public transport currently taken up by schoolchildren. - Yours, etc.,
