Sir, - Does the Irish Government care so little about the relationship between Great Britain and Ireland that it does not even acknowledge Tony Blair's admission and apology for the British Government's reaction to the famine over 150 years ago? Surely Tony Blair has taken an important step towards a better relationship between Ireland and Great Britain one which John Major failed to take in so many years.
The Labour government has finally lit a candle after years of darkness and betrayal by the British government. I ask the Irish Government to keep this candle burning and not let it burn out. - Yours, etc.,
Dublin 13.
