Madam, – Last week’s inflation figures show that there has been a very small reduction in price of groceries in past 12 months.
This makes no sense based on a 20 per cent appreciation of the euro against sterling and the fact that a huge percentage of our groceries originate in the UK.
There is now a responsibility on Government to force retailers to pass these savings on to consumers. It’s time for radical thinking – the old ways just don’t work. – Yours, etc,
