Madam, – Regarding Paul O’Gorman’s queries (June 10th) pertaining to the bus lanes in Dunshaughlin, these were created by using hard shoulders which locals had used for pedestrian access to the village. The 24-hour prohibition was introduced at our request to stop speeding motorists using these lanes to “undertake” cars adhering to the speed limit, thus making walking the 1 km to the village impossible. Common sense prevailed to accommodate all road users! Incidentally, we still need a footpath at the traffic calming to the north of the village. – Yours, etc,
