Sir, - I refer to your recent analysis of the Sudan crisis and, in particular, to the statement that repayment of World Bank debt is a major factor in the crisis there and in other Third World countries. Sadly such repayment is often made at the expense of health and education budgets and by displacing small farmers to make way for rolling acres of exportable crops.
I appeal to our Government, which has an enviable record on Third World issues, to campaign for the World Bank to waive these debts and so set free the oppressed and release those bound unjustly. - Yours, etc., Frank Boylan
