Sir, - Vincent Browne's vendetta against The Workers Party shows no sign of abating. The Workers Party has stood for many years - sometimes alone - in trying to foster a class political approach and analysis to the bitter sectarianism in Northern Ireland.
Many of our members paid the ultimate price for this brave stand. The party membership continue to campaign as democrats and socialists in a deeply divided society in Northern Ireland. Instead of getting the recognition they deserve for this work, they are portrayed as "shadowy", now that our "acceptable" faces have left us.
The claim that the Workers' Party was involved in an "abuse of politics" for over almost two decades is not an abuse of politics, as Vincent Browne would have us believe, but an abuse of language on his part. Every party in this state has a trade union group which seeks to influence the labour movement. The Workers' Party is no different to any other political grouping and has no apologies to make to anyone for attempting to influence trade union politics.
On infiltrating the media, I think Vincent Browne can rest easy on that one. Any friends we ever had there (and there were not too many) have long since shut up shop. - Yours. etc.,
Secretary,
The Workers' Party, Dublin
