Sir, – I am curious: when Ciarán Conlon moved into the public sector early this year – was Fine Gael already paying him €127,000? If so, then it might perhaps be reasonable for him to expect that salary for doing a similar job. If he was paid less before – would the difference be considered a bonus? If he moved from the higher paying job to the lower paying job, surely it could be argued he was following his Taoiseach’s call to help the Republic.

Enda Kenny cites Mr Conlon’s masters in economics as part of his qualification. Perhaps he could help all the other people with post-graduate degrees and doctorates who are unemployed who have experience with job creation. At the very least it sounds like there is a spot for an economics graduate with Fine Gael. – Yours, etc,
