Madam, - In response to Ciara Clarke's complaints about broken glass, stones and grit, raised drains, holes, litter, weeds and other debris on certain cycle lanes between Stillorgan and Dundrum (June 20th), I would like to remind her that while sometimes life for cyclists (and I am one of them) can be be hazardous and unpleasant, with problems such as exposure to the elements, dangerous drivers and insurmountable hills, sometimes it can be convenient and pleasant too when you glide past gridlocked traffic, benefit from the physical exercise and coast down the other side of those insurmountable hills.

My advice to Ms Clarke would be to just "roll with it". - Yours, etc,

JAMES GAFFNEY, Castletroy, Limerick.
