Sir, - I refer to the article by Denis Coghlan (May 10th). Mr Coughlan stated: "It (Fianna Fail) is also resisting the disclosure limits for payments made to politicians and to political parties."

At all times since the publication of the Electoral Bill, Fianna Fail has clearly stated that the Party fully supports the disclosure of financial contributions to politicians and to political parties.

In fact, as spokesperson for the Party, I have made it clear that if the provisions of the Bill were not in place before the dissolution of the current Dail, Fianna Fail would adopt, on a voluntary basis, the disclosure provisions contained in the Bill, for this general election.

From recollection, the media, including The Irish Times, commented favourably on this position.
