Sir, - A proposal is to come before the Dail suggesting that TDs be given an 11 per cent rise. The members of the Partnership for Prosperity and Fairness have had to fight hard to secure 3 per cent. At this point, when nobody knows exactly what effect inflation will have on the economy, perhaps the politicians would consider not taking a rise at all or at least not more than that accorded the members of the PPF.
This, I think, would go some way to re-establishing credibility. Every country needs a Government that the people can respect. - Yours, etc.,
