Tackling obesity

Madam, - Dónal Ó hAodha (January 10th) tells us that parents are responsible for child obesity

Madam, - Dónal Ó hAodha (January 10th) tells us that parents are responsible for child obesity. Of course parents have an inescapable responsibility, but let's not forget the role of schools, the local community and the Government, which have an inescapable responsibility to provide sport and recreation facilities. There is clearly a scarcity of these, especially in our poorly planned, sprawling suburbs.

Surely we are going to address this issue more effectively if we focus on all the possible causes, rather than just "blaming the parents" once again. - Yours, etc,
