A chara, The public and county councils have it in their power to help the future of Irish swimming. If pool time could be made available at lunchtime and in the early evening at reasonable cost to the swimmers, their training could be varied from the early morning hours.

This would enable those swimmers in full time education, and at work, to continue in full time training. At the moment, only a few continue after the age of 14, due to increasing demands on their time.

This way the public could, in its way, pay tribute to Michelle Smith. - Yours, etc.,
