Sir, – It is nothing short of ludicrous to suggest (“FF and FG tribal split”, Home News, June 27th) that people with non-Gaelic surnames (Barry, Brett, Burke, Bush, Cooper, Dalton, Dillon, Ferriter, Fitzgerald, Grace, Grant, Lacy, Mitchell, Nugent, Power, Prendergast, Purcell, Rackard, Redmond, Roche, Sayers, Stokes, Wall, Walsh, Woulfe, etc,) differ politically, culturally, or indeed in any other way, from neighbouring Gaelic Os, Macs, Gills and Muls. – Yours, etc,
