Madam, - Oliver Rogers (April 3rd) rightly decries the eccentric signage on the M1.
To illustrate this further, in January 2008 the NRA, with significant EU funding and much fanfare, launched a pilot programme that displays actual travel times along the M1 Dublin to Border-Belfast corridor.
At various locations along the MI, travel times going northbound to Junction 9 and going southbound to Junction 10 are displayed. However, no junction along the M1 is signposted as being junction 9 or 10. I understand that these junction numbers refer to exits for Drogheda; however, as there are several exiting junctions for Drogheda both northbound and southbound, the motorist is left in limbo as to which junction is referred to.
At the launch of the venture, the CEO of the NRA said "We are looking forward to the feedback from the public on this pilot programme."
Rather than looking for feedback on their "boys with toys" ventures, it might be more appropriate for the NRA to get their house in order and facilitate motorists, especially tourists, and put proper junction signage on the M1. - Yours, etc
