A chara, - Why is the SDLP so politically naive? Must it always play the part of tail to the Labour dog, ever dutifully following its master into the Opposition lobby at Westminster, irrespective of the political issue, or of Labour's attitude to SDLP requirements?

While Unionists cast their votes tactically - sensibly seeking to exploit Government difficulties to their own advantage - the SDLP members remain hostages to a vague socialist concept known generally as the British Labour Party. It appears that Unionists are the only Irish parliamentarians at Westminster who take a pragmatic view of politics, or who place a value on their votes. - Yours, etc.,
