Madam, - To my knowledge at least, no one has demonstrated a rational bridge between the propositions of science and those of religion (not even Einstein, cf. Noel Clarke, January 16th.)

The book The Phenomenon of Man by Teilhard de Chardin SJ, is a famous example of the many attempts to turn a scientific concept (that of evolution by natural selection) into a metaphysical doctrine. It was ably refuted by Peter Medawar in his book The Art of the Soluble.

While science is compatible with religious outlooks of many different kinds, all attempts - at least so far - to turn scientific concepts into religious ones have proved to be graveyards of the intellect. - Yours, etc,
