Rugby reds and blues

Madam, – I’m both happy and frustrated

Madam, – I’m both happy and frustrated. I’m delighted that my beloved Leinster have finally reached their potential, but disgusted at what I would consider the filth which was written by Niall Kiely (Sports Weekend, In the Red Corner, May 2nd).

I really enjoyed that both a Munster and Leinster supporter wrote an article, but I felt that the way Mr Kiely went about writing what was ultimately a pro- Munster article was rude and inappropriate.

Munster rugby does have many positives, but he failed to mention them and went about insulting the Leinster coach.

I believe that he should have written about Munster fans who, like the one who was sitting beside me on Saturday at the match, shook my hand afterwards and wished us good luck in the final.

I think that Mr Kiely owes the Leinster fans an apology, but more importantly owes Michael Cheika an apology. Or maybe for the final he could write an article with the taste of some humble pie in his mouth? – Yours, etc,

Madam, – After sitting with a mixture of Munster and Leinster supporters before, during and after the historic match, I felt a great sense of comradeship. There was no segregation of any kind which I think is unique to this great game. – Yours, etc,

Madam, – Only this Government would allow a national sporting event in our national stadium to be televised live exclusively by a foreign premium subscription satellite broadcaster (Sky). Legislation should be enacted immediately to rescind and ban such contracts. – Yours, etc,
