Rising House Prices

Sir, - The Government could take one very simple step to halt the rise in Dublin house prices: ban residential property auctions in the capital.

This measure would not constitute an attack on property rights, as vendors would still be able to specify the asking price for their property. But the move would halt the insane auction fever which has driven prices out of the reach of everyone except existing property owners. - Yours, etc., Kieron Wood,
