Sir, – I was very shocked to read in Catherine Cleary’s review of Alexis Bar Grill in Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin that she ate bluefin tuna. Bluefin tuna is one of the world’s most endangered species of fish and has been virtually wiped out of the Mediterranean and elsewhere. Last year there were proposals for a worldwide ban on fishing for this particular tuna, but it was overturned.

All this information is available on the internet and I am wondering whether, as The Irish Timespays or contributes to Ms Cleary's restaurant excursions, you should set some parameters as to what she consumes.

It would be quite easy to write up a list of endangered species that critics must not eat.

The sad thing is that there are species of tuna that are not so endangered as bluefin and are quite acceptable as a substitute. – Yours, etc,
