Reserving seats on trains

 

Sir, – What a great shame that years after Irish Rail’s implementation of a seat reservation system, many customers will still board their train to find their seat reservation has vanished, an absence of on-board personnel to help matters and no response from the Irish Rail customer service department on the matter.

What really is the difficulty? Are we the only remaining country in western Europe to continue this way on principal or intercity routes? – Yours, etc,
