Sir, - Now that the proper obsequies in the matter of our four Air Corps heroes have been observed, I think it is timely that we consider the overall position regarding rescue. Is it fair or reasonable that those who wish to go sailing, mountain-climbing, fishing, etc. continue to put at risk those who, unlike ourselves, stand ready to brave all perils to come to their aid, at all costs?
Those who make their living through fishing are entitled to rescue when danger threatens; but surely those others who follow the "Everest syndrome" should be obliged to have more care? What is the answer? - Yours, etc.,
Joseph O'Brien, Coolamber Park, Knocklyon, Dublin 16.
