Madam, - My congratulations on your supplement on the Somme (The Irish Times, June 27th). Such recognition of brave men and women is long overdue and demonstrates a maturity in our nation that has been long in coming.
May I suggest that the next great step in this maturity is to recognise also the contribution of those Irish men and women who volunteered to fight the rise of Hitler and Nazi Germany and gave us the privilege of freedom we so enjoy today?
I would like to think that such recognition is only a short time away. - Yours, etc,
