A cairde, - On behalf of the Bloody Sunday Organising Committee, may I take this opportunity through the columns of this newspaper to congratulate the people of Derry, the people of Ireland, and our supporters, in the international world for their overwhelming show of dignity and solidarity in the events marking the 25th anniversary of Bloody Sunday.

The success, and calibre of the commemorative events are a tribute to all who participated. The 40,000 to 50,000 people who marched along the original route to the rally at Free Derry Corner sent a strong message to the British Government that the issue of Bloody Sunday will not disappear while the victims families are refused justice.

This massive display of support, combined with the disclosure of new evidence, has strengthened, the resolve and determination of the families of all those who were killed or wounded to demand that a new and independent enquiry be established. The voices of 50,000 people cannot be ignored.

We take this opportunity to thank all those individuals or delegations who travelled from all over Ireland and further, to ensure that the weekend was marked with the respect it deserved. A special note of thanks must go to all the flute bands whose co operation and respect ensured that the march and rally were a success. We pay tribute to all who made this possible. - Is mise,
