Sir, - It is most distasteful and dreadful that the relic of St Therese of Liseaux is turning into a circus parade run by men who are seeking the limelight in the shadow of her glory. One of her life's ambitions was to be ordained a priest and yet the very men bathing in her glory would deny her this today.
When President McAleese received the Eucharist at a non-Catholic service, Cardinal Connell (then Archbishop) called it a "sham".
I wonder, if a Protestant leader in Ireland called the present adoration of the relic of St Therese "idolatry", what would he have to say? - Yours, etc.,
(Ms) Terry Healy, Hartwell Green, Kill, Co Kildare.
