Sir, - Fr Tom Ingoldsby (August 2nd) deplores the teaching of sexual information in schools. He says that we should learn "from the tragic experience of other countries". What tragic experience?
Would he also deplore the teaching of religion in schools? And would he agree that this teaching has in any way contributed to tragic experiences in our own country? I feel strongly that if "the classroom is not the place to teach children about human sexuality" - and I agree with Father Ingoldsby on that - neither is the classroom the place to teach children about religion. That should be up to the parents too. - Yours, etc.,
Jack O'connell,
Ballydehob, Co. Cork.
