Sir, – I am heartily sick of listening to those who would exhort us to vote against lowering judges’ salaries. It would appear that the the separation of powers doctrine has become the sacred altar upon which one section of the community is to be immune from the economic fallout of a national and international crisis.
If only those on benefits had had such a lofty doctrine to protect them! The legal profession is the main promoter of this idea and it emanates from a sense of entitlement among a section of the population who enjoy a huge preponderance of wealth. We need reform, we need fairness and the people will speak. – Yours, etc,
