Sir - The lengthening traffic queues at either side of the West Link toll Bridge raises serious questions about this particular project and the method of paying for this "link" in our road system.
The cost to individuals and indeed to the Exchequer of thousands of work-hours spent queuing cannot be justified by this illogical method of paying for the construction of the bridge.
There are billions of punts ear-marked for the development of a national infrastructure over the coming years. Would it not make sense to work out a reasonable return to the investors in the toll bridge and free up the thousands of commuters who are stuck in these ever growing queues to pay their tolls?
A second bridge is now planned to facilitate the operation. It the toll operation were removed would this bridge be necessary with all the inevitable disruption at construction stage? The concept of public/private partnership is a good thing in itself, but there are locations where strategically it does not make sense.
In my opinion the operation of the West Link bridge is an example of this. - Yours etc.,
Cllr. Tom Kelleher, Fingal County Council, Swords, Co. Dublin.
