Madam, – As an accountant in private practice dealing with the practical debt issues of Irish citizens on a daily basis, I fully endorse, commend and applaud Master of the High Court Edmund Honohan for his comments and input as reported in The Irish Times(Home News, May 12th).

It is inevitable that some degree of “debt forgiveness” needs to be introduced if we are to preserve the wellbeing and sanity of the many, many Irish citizens who have suffered seriously as a result of the economic property collapse.

I hope legislation will be brought forward at a very early date to achieve the desired result and eliminate the social and family mental distress being experienced by very many people in this country. – Yours, etc,
