Sir, I agree totally with Mr Brian Murphy's letter of November 18th. It is most confusing to have "pound" used for punt in technical market reports. "Punt" should be used where "punt" is intended.

It is also confusing if the word "sterling" is used. Sterling is not the official name of the GB£, or English pound; it is a propaganda word promoted by British people. It means "the real thing", as in "sterling silver" or a "sterling person".

We should refuse to use such propaganda words for English money, Greenwich Mean Time" for universal time (UTC), or "mainland" for Britain. - Yours, etc.,
