A chara, - The recent series of large pay demands by the public sector, backed by threats of strike, is seriously undermining the very life of the State. Considering the moderate pay claims by their opposite numbers in the UK, is it not time that a true comparison were made of public sector pay in our two countries, with the resultant figures published for all to see? Then we the taxpayers could see whether our money is being squandered or not, for it must not be forgotten that it is our money the Government is spending to meet these massive demands.
Let us all pause and reflect, for the Celtic Tiger will not be with us forever, and it is then we will be left to reap our wild harvest. - Is mise,
