Sir, Mrs Stewart (April 16th) is indeed correct in suggesting that there would be an outcry if proper protocol was not observed towards our President. Mrs Robinson, through her progressive and realistic attitude has earned international acclaim and respect for herself and the nation.
The Pope, on the other hand with his regressive views has helped to alienate the Church from the modern world. Perhaps if he had respected his predecessor and carried his views and reforms not merely his name, as papal protocol dictates, he too would have unquestioned respect.
